Surgo Construction (Surgo) recently enjoyed a great afternoon attending the Northern Counties Builders Federation (NCBF) apprentice celebration lunch.
NCBF is a long-established trade association that represents construction companies operating within the North East of England, and we are proud to be a longstanding member.
Through NCBF’s funding initiative, which supports contractors to recruit apprentices with a small grant, Surgo is delighted to have been able to support apprentice joiner, Josh Brennan, who is currently on-site at Medburn and is studying his Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery at Newcastle College.
Speaking about the importance of recruiting and retaining apprentices Jeff Charlton, construction director said: “It’s great to support the next generation of built environment professionals through traineeships and schemes such as the one provided by NCBF.
“It is important for the industry that we do our part in addressing the skills shortage by creating sustainable career opportunities.
“We enjoyed a great lunch and it was good to celebrate with other apprentices and their employers who have also benefited from the grants.”
Member companies of NCBF have the chance to bid for funding to recruit an apprentice and could receive up to 23k depending on the apprentice’s age and length of qualification.
