As one of the region’s leading construction companies continues to win new contracts and expand its team, one young lad from Blyth has been given the opportunity to start a career in construction.
Nineteen-year-old Corey Wrigglesworth is Surgo’s latest appointment as part of its continuing process of augmenting its existing team and is hopefully a further sign that the region’s construction industry has turned a corner.
Corey, who has joined Surgo as an apprentice joiner, already has first-hand experience of working with the contractor following a two-week work placement he undertook, earlier this year, on site at the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle, where the contractor is currently putting the finishing touches to construction of a new swimming pool and sports facility.
Now on board permanently, Corey will be gaining hands-on experience working on site at Newcastle University’s Catherine Cookson building, which is currently undergoing a major redevelopment.
During his training, Corey will attend Northumberland College.
