As a conscientious contractor, Surgo is delighted to announce that three members of the team recently received prestigious national Considerate Constructors awards.
Considerate Constructor awards are presented to site managers whose sites have shown the highest levels of consideration towards the public, its workforce and the environment through adhering to the Scheme’s five-point Code of Considerate Practice: Care about appearance; respect the community; protect the environment; secure everyone’s safety value their workforce.
Michael Brayson received a Bronze award for the Hatton Gallery site where Surgo undertook a major renovation and refurbishment on behalf of Newcastle University completely transforming its fine art department.
Stevie Foster received a Silver award for the Centre for Process and Innovation site where Surgo constructed a multi-million-pound new build R&D facility at the expanding NETPark site in Durham.
Finally, Len Ronayne also received a Silver award for the Endoscopy facility at North Tyneside General Hospital, where we carried out at a refurbishment project on behalf of the Northumbria NHS Trust. Unfortunately, Len couldn’t make the event and so his award was collected by construction director, Jeff Charlton.
Thanking everyone for their tremendous efforts, Jeff Charlton said:
“We are very conscious of the impact our sites can have on the local communities in which we work and therefore continually strive to lessen that impact. These latest awards recognise that and are testament to all three recipients who must be congratulated for their efforts. I urge all site managers to keep up the good work and look forward to congratulating more of them in the future.
On behalf of the Considerate Constructors scheme, executive chairman, Isabel Martinson, congratulated the winners, saying:
“Every award-winning site is a beacon of best practice – making significant strides to continually improve the image and reputation of the UK construction industry.
“The scheme is hugely proud of the efforts of these top-performing sites and we thank them for their hard work, dedication and commitment to achieve ever higher standards in considerate construction.”
