As the RICS announces significant growth in activity levels in construction for Quarter Two, Surgo Construction (Surgo), one of the region’s leading contractors has announced a further two appointments to its team.

Martin Blight has joined the contractor in the role of senior estimator. Martin will work closely with director and head of estimating, Ron Waters, to manage and respond to the growing number of tender opportunities and contract wins Surgo continues to secure.

On site, Len Ronayne has joined as site manager and is currently overseeing the major refurbishment of workshops and classrooms at South Tyneside College’s world famous marine school.

Both men have immense experience of the industry.  Mr Blight who worked for Surgo some years ago, has most recently been working for a national operator and the opportunity however, to return to one of the region’s most respected and oldest established construction companies was too great to turn down.  He said:

“Surgo Construction is well regarded for its no-nonsense approach to construction born from a total understanding of the market, its clients and a desire to deliver outstanding projects each and every time.  To have the opportunity to once more be part of such a team and make a contribution to the company’s ongoing success, while at the same time feel  valued is extremely satisfying. “

These appointments are the latest in a line of new roles to be created at Surgo this year and form part of the company’s ongoing recruitment strategy.

This year, Surgo is on track for a £32 million turnover which is an increase of £12 million on the previous year.
